Category 1 Hurricane Debby Forms in Gulf of Mexico
Debby Expected to Make Landfall in Florida

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has upgraded Tropical Storm Debby to a Category 1 hurricane. As of Monday morning, Debby is located in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to make landfall in Florida later this week.
Debby is currently packing winds of up to 85 miles per hour. The NHC has issued a hurricane watch from west of Port Charlotte to the Anclote River, including the Tampa Bay area.
Residents in the affected areas are urged to prepare for the storm. The NHC recommends securing loose outdoor objects, stocking up on food and water, and having an evacuation plan in place.
The NHC is continuing to monitor Debby's progress and will provide updates as they become available.
